Press Releases
August 12, a regular holiday

Cebu City, Philippines. August 12, 2019 is declared a regular holiday all throughout the country in observance of EID’L ADHA or the Feast of Sacrifice for the Muslim Community, confirmed DOLE-7 Regional Director Salome O. Siaton.

This after the President issued Proclamation No. 789.

With this, Director Siaton reminded employers to religiously follow the rules to pay on a regular holiday.

Workers, who would be working on Monday, 12 August, should be paid 200% of their daily wage for the first eight (8) hours. If they won’t work on said day, still, they would receive 100% of their daily wage.

Director Siaton said that for workers to avail said regular holiday pay, they should be present during the last working day prior to the regular holiday, or if they were not, she added, their leave of absence should be with pay.

For work done in excess of eight (8) hours or overtime work, she said further, workers should be paid an additional 30% of their hourly rate on said day.

“There is another computation to be followed for work done during a regular holiday that also falls on the worker’s rest day. In this case, he or she should be paid an additional 30% of his or her basic wage of 200%,” explained the DOLE-7 Head.

For work done in excess of 8 hours or overtime work during a regular holiday that also falls on the workers’ rest day, they should be paid an additional 30% of their hourly rate on said day.
