Bohol TIPC reinvigorated; Gov. Chatto now takes the lead

Cebu City, Philippines. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-7) lauded the Provincial Government of Bohol headed by Governor Edgar M. Chatto, for taking up the cudgels of leading the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (TIPC) in the Province.

Chatto, who replaced Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II, now acts as the Chairman of the TIPC. 

According to DOLE-7 Regional Director Exequiel R. Sarcauga, Mayor Yap and Governor Chato have always been instrumental in implementing various programs and services of the Department in the Province. 

The Bohol TIPC had always been very active in spearheading campaigns and information drive on the DOLE’s latest pronouncements and issuances including the promotion of General Labor Standard (GLS) and other DOLE programs particularly the annual celebration of Labor Day. 

“We know that with the leadership of Governor Chatto, the Bohol-TIPC would definitely sustain its vigor and robustness and would continue to serve as an instrument of good governance, which fosters effective social dialogue among the representatives of labor, management, and government,” said Sarcauga. 

He added that with sound industrial relations being promoted and advocated by the council, it’s not only the wages and working conditions of the workers in the Province that are being given premium. Equally given utmost importance and attention, he said further, would be the means to promote and sustain industrial peace and social justice in the Province. 

During the council’s General Membership Meeting (GMM) held lately at the Bohol Tropics Resort, Tagbilaran City, around seventy (70) member-establishments attended. 

Apart from witnessing the ceremonial turn-over of key to the new Council Chairman, the DOLE also provided those in attendance updates of the Department’s advocacy on ending ENDO and other forms of abusive employment arrangements. 

“Updates on such advocacy could form an integral part of the meetings of the council as well as its conduct of learning sessions, which should be done on a regular basis,” added the DOLE-7 Head. 

Also taking place during the GMM was the oath taking ceremonies of the new set of officers of the Council.
