DOLE RO-VII has a new director

Cebu City, Philippines.Atty. Alvin M. Villamor is the newly-installed Regional Director of the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office. No. VII (DOLE-7).

Villamor, who succeeded Director Cyril L. Ticao, will now man and lead the Regional Office covering its Divisions and Units as well as the field offices of Tri-City – Cities of Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu and Cebu; Cebu Province; Bohol; Negros Oriental; and Siquijor.

In a ceremonial turnover held yesterday, Director Villamor accepted the symbolic key of responsibility from Director Ticao, who would now be assigned at DOLE Regional Office No. VIII.

Underscoring the relevance of the interplay of individual tasks to the organizational objectives, the new DOLE-7 Head, in his speech, gave enormous weight on the men and women of DOLE RO-VII going to one and the same direction.

“It is certainly not acceptable when one does something because it is what he or she wishes, thereby sacrificing the greater good of and the kind of public service that the Department always aims to deliver,” said Director Villamor, who came from DOLE Region IV-B or MIMAROPA as Regional Director.

An Ilocano by heart, the new Director wishes for the Region to work together harmoniously while its leaders and staff endeavor to learn many things from each other.

“In an organization, personality clashes, sudden abnormalities, and glitches are but normal. Despite differences among each one, I’m hoping that the organization as a whole would be able to employ correct intuition, insights, and wisdomin handling and hurdling various difficulties,” he added.

Giving Director Villamor support as the new Assistant Regional Director is Atty. Roy L. Buenafe, who came from DOLE RO-VIII as OIC-Assistant Regional Director and who also happened to be the former Mediator-Arbiter of the Region.

In managing work and leading people, Director Villamor emphasized the importance of listening first before talking, which according to him, sits right with what Theodore Roosevelt said about speaking softly while carrying a big stick or being firm when one must be.

The DOLE-Regional Coordinating Committee (DOLE-RCC-7) Heads also showed support during the ceremonial turnover with their presence and the following came: Director Evelia M. Durato of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA); Presiding Commissioner Violeta O. Bantug of the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC-7TH Division); Ingrid Z. Yumang of the Employees Compensation Commission (ECC REU-7); Dexter F. Paro of the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO-7); Gina T. Emperado of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC-7); and Gines Timosa of the Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC-REU 7).
