OSSCO scores anew, serves 2-K plus on labor day

 

Cebu City,Philippines.The fifteen (15) line agencies involved in the One-Stop Service Center for OFWs (OSSCO) operations brought their services in one venue during the Labor Day Celebration and served a total of 2,304 clients. 

The OSSCO housed at the IC3 Pavilion, Cebu City on May 1, extended services not only to OFWs but also to all jobseekers and participants who flocked to the venue during the celebration. 

Permanently located at the 2nd Floor, Government Express Center, SM City Cebu, North Reclamation Area, Cebu City, the Center comprised the following agencies, namely: Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA); Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA); Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA); Professional Regulations Commission (PRC); Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA); Home Development Fund (HDMF); Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC); Social Security Service (SSS); Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA); Bureau of Immigration (BI); National Bureau of Investigation (NBI); Commission on Higher Education (CHED); Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA); and National Reintegration Center for OFWs-Department of Labor and Employment (NRCO-DOLE). 

In his report to DOLE-7 Regional Director, Atty. Alvin M. Villamor, Mr. Dexter F. Paro, NRCO-7 Regional Coordinator cited that it’s the HDMF, which tallied that biggest number of clients served at 784. 

Following at the second spot was the SSS serving 325 customers followed by the GSIS rendering assistance to 303 clients. 

The PhilHealth noted 275 Labor Day attendees seeking help from them, while the TESDA recorded 165 customers asking for help. 

At the sixth spot was the NBI serving 135 clients, which was followed by the PSA extending help to ninety (90) customers. 

The CHED recorded eighty-two (82) clients served, while the MARINA tallied forty-eight (48) individuals being rendered assistance. 

The PRC, on the other hand, reported forty-five (45) customers seeking help from them, while there were twenty-eight (28) served by the OWWA. 

The TIEZA served eight (8) clients, which was followed by the DOLE-NRCO extending assistance to six (6) individuals. 

There were four (4) OFWs served by the POEA and five (5) by the Bureau of Immigration (BI). 

“We are extremely grateful to all our partner-agencies who heeded to our call and actively participated in rendering non-monetary benefits services to our clients during the 116th Labor Day Celebration.  We highly commended and appreciated all of them for their involvement and relentless support in making the delivery of the OSSCO services possible and meaningful,” said Director Villamor. 

The provision of much needed assistance to clients during Labor Day, he added, is a demonstration of the government’s agenda of reaching as many clients as possible and in streamlining government services particularly for the OFWs. 

The OSSCO was among the services rendered to the workers during the Labor Day Celebration apart from the Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan (TNK) Job and Business Fairs, and the Medical and Dental Mission, among others.
